Palmeira Imperial: A palmeira imperial é originária das Antilhas, na América Central, é a mais alta palmeira do mundo podendo atingir a 40 metros de altura. Um símbolo da aristocracia na história do Brasil, a primeira palmeira desta espécie foi plantada pelo então príncipe regente Dom João VI, em 1809. Todas as palmeiras-imperiais cultivadas no país descendem desta primeira palmeira, que foi denominada Palma Mater.

Imperial Palm Tree: The imperial palm tree is native to the Antilles, in Central America, it is the highest palm tree in the world and can reach 40 meters in height. A symbol of the aristocracy in the history of Brazil, the first palm of this species was planted by the regent Prince Dom João VI in 1809. All the imperial palm trees cultivated in the country descended from this first palm, which was called Palma Mater.
