Jacú

Jacú-comum (Penelope obscura):

O jacú-comum é uma ave nativa da Mata Atlântica, ocorrendo principalmente nas regiões Sudeste e Sul do Brasil. Pertence à família Cracidae e possui porte médio a grande, plumagem predominantemente escura e comportamento discreto.

É uma ave frugívora, alimentando-se principalmente de frutos, sementes, folhas e brotos. Por esse motivo, exerce um papel ecológico essencial como dispersora de sementes, contribuindo diretamente para a regeneração natural das florestas e a manutenção da biodiversidade.

O jacú-comum vive preferencialmente nas copas das árvores, mas também pode ser observado caminhando pelo solo da mata. Sua vocalização é forte e característica, geralmente ouvida ao amanhecer. A espécie sofreu declínio populacional em algumas áreas devido à perda de habitat e à caça, o que reforça a importância de sua conservação.
